30. Jeremiah Summary Verse

30. Jeremiah Summary Verse

Jeremiah is one of the more familiar prophets in the Old Testament. He ministered at the end of the kingdom of Judah and during the beginning of the Babylonian Captivity. He had a difficult task calling God’s people to repentance and being rejected by the people, kings and even the religious leaders. But God’s Word fortified him for the task, and he served the LORD faithfully! Our summary verse is from Jeremiah 15:16: “Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.” – (NKJV)

The Apostle Andrew

The Apostle Andrew

The church remembers the Apostle Andrew on November 30th. Andrew was one of the more familiar disciples, but as we dig into the life of this apostle, there may be a few details that you were not aware or did not remember. He was the brother of Peter, but was first a disciple of John the Baptizer and the one who introduced Peter to Jesus. He was a fisherman from the city of Bethsaida, was a witness of the Savior’s ministry and resurrection. Tradition holds that he was crucified on an X shaped cross, which has become known as St. Andrew’s Cross. Join us as we dig into the Bible and other historical information to learn about this disciple of Jesus and as we apply what we learn to our own lives today!

25. Isaiah Summary Verse

25. Isaiah Summary Verse

Isaiah is the longest prophetic work in the Old Testament. He condemns the externalism of the people, but he also proclaims a message of hope. Jesus is found in many beautiful pictures in Isaiah. Our summary verse is from Isaiah 9:6: “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – (NKJV) Why this Christmas text? Because Isaiah points to the promised Child Who fulfills God’s promises and the One who takes us from the Garden of Eden to Garden of Gethsemane.
